The Adventures of Toto Class 9 English Moments Chapter 2 Summary
Grandfather bought Toto, a mischievous little monkey, from a tonga-driver for five rupees. Toto, with his bright eyes and pearly white teeth, became part of Grandfather’s private zoo. His playful and destructive nature led to numerous escapades, like tearing wallpaper, shredding clothes, and causing chaos among other pets. Despite efforts to keep Toto a secret from Grandmother, his antics were soon discovered.
Toto accompanied Grandfather on a trip, hidden in a bag, but managed to cause a scene at the railway station, leading to an extra fare being charged. He was eventually accepted by Grandmother and given a place in the stable, where he had a tense relationship with the family donkey, Nana.
Toto enjoyed taking baths in warm water but nearly boiled himself alive once by jumping into a kitchen kettle. His destructive behavior continued, culminating in a scene where he stole a dish of pullao and threw it down from a tree, breaking it.
Realizing Toto’s destructive nature and the financial strain it caused, Grandfather decided to sell Toto back to the tonga-driver for three rupees.
